Our Masterclasses are perfect for those who want to improve their written communication skills.

We look at a sample text, taking you through each draft; from general writing, to rearranging the text for impact, and then how the writer edits for clarity and cohesion.

We then write our own text, with the aim of producing a coherent, cohesive and readable product. We guide you and show you how to make your writing stand out.

Whether you want a couple of sessions or regular Masterclasses over the next few months, you decide.

Content

Taking you through a writing sample, we look at both strengths and weaknesses. We look at:

  • how we revise text to improve readability

  • selecting suitable vocabulary

  • how to create our own readable text

  • eliminating the unnecessary

  • adding drama where and when required

  • producing a coherent, cohesive and reader-centric text

Practice

We believe practising is essential. Understanding where we are doing well and where we can improve is crucial:

  • spend time practising during your session: share your work and receive comments and suggestions from your mentor

  • learn from other people

  • writing is not assessed

Objective

We encourage questions: Masterclasses are limited to five participants, so you will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions. We will see:

  • why sentences need changing or deleting

  • why some structures are better than others

  • which words work better and why

  • where we can break the rules, and why

  • the best way to learn through practising
