Conveying information concisely and effectively can be challenging, and understanding what makes some writing good, and recognise what makes some writing less than acceptable, are essential skills.
Our course takes you through guided independent study and assessed tasks, making use of online practice elements to produce written tasks.
Your personal mentor is available to answer questions and alleviate doubts. They also assess your tasks and advise on best writing practices, helping you learn more effectively.

Assessment
We believe practising is essential. Understanding where we are doing well and where we can improve is crucial:
when you submit your writing, your mentor appraises it, helping you improve style, vocabulary choice and structure
you will receive comments and suggestions from your mentor
your mentor is available for any questions or queries you may have

At the end of this course, you should be able to:
understand how to make your point succinctly, creating reader-friendly sentences and paragraphs
state your point confidently and clearly
provide clear and supportive arguments and examples
create a text which flows from sentence to sentence, and paragraph through paragraph
understand common writing flaws and how to avoid them

The course is divided in units, each with a presentation.
Exercises are available where appropriate. Once completed, send to your mentor who will assess.

We anticipate between 40-60 hours which depends how much time you invest in writing, reviewing and rewriting your tasks.
The course is designed to be flexible. If you have time one week, but less in the following, that’s not a problem.
