Courses

What you can expect
Our courses are designed to help you master appropriate writing skills for your needs. Through our online platform, we cover theory and examples in conjunction with explanatory text.

All necessary information is provided and, where necessary, further resources are indicated. However, should you have any questions, your mentor is there to support you.
Each course commences with an introductory online meeting with your mentor with another at a suitable.

Although we have a range of courses, we can build one just for you or your team.

Contact us to discuss your requirements.

Support
We are all unique; neither of us thinking quite the same. Although the explanatory text will guide you through your course, questions will occur. Your mentor is there to guide you and answer your questions or queries.

So, if a point is not clear, or you would like to confirm your thoughts, just ask.
If you have multiple questions and ideas, and would like to apply them to your work, consider an online session with your mentor. It's good to talk.
Practise
Quizzes are designed to reinforce core knowledge, whether grammar, vocabulary or appropriate structures. These are not only designed to test but reinforce knowledge. You may take them as frequently as you wish: results are not saved nor marks kept.
Writing tasks allow you to develop your skills, practising what you have learnt. Once assessed, you will have the opportunity to further improve your writing based on the comments from your mentor. The writing may be submitted once more to assess  improvements.
Appraised tasks
When your writing is appraised, we look at a number of areas, including:

  • sentence flow
  • clarity
  • spelling and vocabulary
  • grammar
  • word use
Your mark shows an overall writing standard, whilst comments centre on each appraised area with notes indicating which areas need improving.

An appraisal will not examine every sentence, word or phrase, nor recommend specific vocabulary or phrase replacements. If you require this degree of detail, we would recommend an annotated structural analysis.
Options
To enhance your course, we have a number of options available, enabling you to build a course more suited to your needs.
These can be selected when you pay, or at later time. If you need any advice, just ask your mentor.
Additional writing tasks
Continuously improving, in the pursuit of perfection, involves time and practice. You may find, whether as part of your course or over the coming months, you wish to practise more. You can choose, as an extension to your course, different tasks to improve and perfect your skills.

If you would like something more specific, please let us know.
Structural appraisal
Using multiple parameters, we appraise different parts of your writing, from sentence flow and arrangement, to clarity and consistency in your overall writing. This appraisal type provides more detail than our general appraisal, allowing you to locate stylistic issues and structural problems.
Annotated structural analysis
For those who require a more detailed approach, this option comments on style, vocabulary use and sentence structure. Comments are specific to your text, guiding you precisely and accurately.

The sample annotated text indicates:

  • areas to refine
  • where to strengthen structure, vocabulary or style
  • selecting appropriate vocabulary for your subject and audience
  • words which weaken writing
  • words to strengthen writing

Annotated notes have the advantage of showing you precisely where faults or possible problem areas lie, and how they might be improved.

In addition, they provide a record showing improvement, and how your text has improved.
Online coaching

Sometimes there is no replacement for talking with someone, allowing you to benefit from the expertise of your mentor. Whether you want to enliven your writing or understand what to remove or what to leave, your mentor can help you move forward.

You can select how much time you wish to add to your course.
Notes

Supplied as a .pdf, notes contain everything for your course, including practice exercises and writing tasks with answers provided separately.
