Time preposition with IN, ON and AT
The following sentences use IN, ON or AT: see if the students can complete the sentences:
1- We had a meeting ___ two o'clock.
2- We went to New York ___ December.
3- What are you doing ___ Monday?
4- ___ New Year's Day we'll go for a walk.
5- ___ Christmas the whole family stays at my home but we have a large meal only ___ Christmas Day.

AT is always used with TIME (at 2 o'clock)
IN is always used with MONTHS (in November)
ON is always used with DAYS (on Monday)
There is no easy way to remember why one noun has one preposition but another noun has a different one:
AT Christmas, AT Easter or AT night
IN the morning or IN the night
The preposition must be learnt (e.g. IN + morning)
