As Percy was thinking through his menu ideas, he put aside any doubts than came to him and decide if things were to fail he would have a backup plan. Maybe something totally fail-safe. He couldn't think what, at this stage, but the thought nevertheless comforted him. He was sure everyone would get along regardless and they would just put with any mishaps as part of the evening. The thought cheered him up and he got on with the planning.
